The other side of pop music
Hello, I’m Nic.
Not all pop music has to be made for Instagram models (although no offense to them). Point is… There are plenty of us ‘music geeks’ out there who also have a fascination with popular music but enjoy seeing how far we can push the boundaries. How interesting can we get while retaining some pop sensibility? What’s the most unique way to tell this story? Those are questions I ask myself when I sit down to produce with an artist. I’m Nic, a producer from Canada working with artists remotely from anywhere in the world. I grew up playing progressive rock and listening to 60s and 70s music. I’m a formally trained jazz guitarist and composer. And… I also love pop music. Strange combo? Maybe. But I’ve discovered that there are many artists out there who are less interested in making mainstream music but would rather do their own thing, get weird, and still be able to make a living and fully support themselves. DISCOVER
Every project starts with a creative session where we dive in and hash out ideas based on the goals and direction of your song. We’ll experiment with different arrangements, chord structures, and come up with the most interesting version of your song.
MAKE
Next we will dive into actually creating the final product. I’m a ‘one stop shop’ producer so it’s my job to loop in all of the musicians needed, make sure everything is produced and mixed properly, and deliver all of the final files to you — the artist.
CONNECT
I love creating niche pop music because even if it isn’t for ‘everybody’ it’s perfect for your audience. Once your song is finished, I will connect you with people in my network who are experts on helping you find that right audience for your art.
